A New Year, A New Cookbook!

Buon Anno! Happy New Year, everyone!

I thought it would be fun, and fitting, to begin 2011 with this sneak peek at the cover of my forthcoming cookbook, The Glorious Pasta of Italy, which is scheduled for release in June. [Update: Now available on Amazon] This is my third cookbook, and my third collaboration with Chronicle Books, and once again my wonderful publisher has done an outstanding job. From the design and layout to the gorgeous, portrait-like pictures by award-winning photographer France Ruffenach, this is a beautiful book.

The photo above is of ‘Maccheroni alla Chitarra with Ragu all’Abruzzese.’ This recipe for square-cut noodles with a robustly flavored meat sauce and tiny meatballs is a specialty of Abruzzo, the ruggedly beautiful region where my mother was born and raised. It’s just one of more than 100 recipes in The Glorious Pasta of Italy, which is my celebration of pasta in all its glorious forms. The book features a spectrum of recipes, from dozens of simple weeknight dishes that can be prepared in the time it takes to boil a pot of water to a collection of ‘showstoppers’–spectacular, one-of-a-kind recipes that truly showcase how glorious pasta can be. There is even a bonus chapter on pasta dolce, sweet pasta for dessert!

In the coming months I look forward to sharing more from The Glorious Pasta of Italy, including recipes and how-to videos for making great pasta and sauces. So please stay tuned.
